astrid strömberg: dog spelled backwards

Dec 8, 2023 - Jan 27, 2024

Snow is delighted to present ‘Dog spelled backwards’ - Astrid Strömberg’s first solo exhibition at Snow.

Painting never ceases or stays on the canvas or in the studio. The artist’s story continues to unfold in the arrangement of the works in the space. Astrid Strömberg’s narrative is stretching the observations from her surroundings, the notes from the dog walks, to the imaginary. Strömberg’s work moves effortlessly between flat cartoon like aesthetics and vivid painterly brushstrokes, often with structural elements on the surface of the paintings. She is tracing the fine lines between reality and fantasy, the seriousness and the naive. Simplifying and cropping, zooming into details of her surroundings she uses fragments of figurations to form her narrative.
