In the presence of the artist

A warm welcome!

Gosia Machon’s figurative abstract paintings and drawings are created in intuitive processes and are driven by an inner archive. Her paintings draw from personal feelings, as well as from a supra-personal view of collective experiences and memories. Her work repeatedly revolves around the longing for untouched nature. Nature emerges as a plant or an animal, and refers equally to the unfathomable meanders of our human psyche and body – the piece of wilderness within ourselves.

The series TIER shows non-human creatures such as plants and animals - unassailable in their individuality, their self-will, their intelligence and their sentience. In these paintings Gosia Machon tells ambivalent stories of fear and hope, delight and powerlessness, utopia and dystopia - both from her individual perspective and from the emotional perspective of the non-human beings.

The scenarios point both to the pre-human past as well as into a threatened future and last but not least into the fading idyll of our present.
